It’s Thursday night, and you know what that means! Right. We say “goodybye” to another Idol hopeful, whose dreams will be brutally crushed tonight. The sad thing is that, very possible, all seven of these people really believe they can win. That’s very unrealistic. I mean, c’mon! Stefano has GOT to realize that James and Casey can perform rings around him. So can Lauren and Haley. Oh, well…I’ve predicted that either he or Jacob will go home tonight. Let’s see if I’m right.
I heard Katy Perry will be singing tonight. That could be fun. I kind of like her. Aha. And David Cook is going to be here. Cool.
Oh, good, they are doing small ensembles again. Lauren, Haley, Jacob, and Stefano are singing Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister.” I really don’t like this song. I don’t understand why it’s so popular. Now that I think about it, it sounds like Train trying to be Jason Mraz. Meh. They’re doing okay. The four of them couldn’t possibly be dressed more differently. Weird.
Instead of going straight to results, we get commercials first.
Oh, and the Ford commercial. They cover Five For Fighting’s song “World.”
Casey, Scotty, and James are singing “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay. It’s not a stellar performance. It seems as though they might not have had a lot of time to practice together. The harmonies were really pitchy. And the unison parts weren’t great, either.
Now for some results. Maybe. First we chat. Wow. Someone painted a picture of Casey and his standup bass. And lights are dimmed. Casey stands up. Jacob stands up. You know, when there are only seven, the bottom three is almost half of them. Casey is safe. Good. And Jacob? Jacob is in the bottom three. As well he should be.
David Cook will sing after the commercials. The song is the first single from his upcoming album. It’s called “The Last Goodbye.” Pretty guitar. It’s a left-handed double cutaway, white, possibly a Gibson ES-335. His singing is frequently off pitch, which fuels my fire that the Idol stage is a hearing nightmare! I’ve always thought the contestants had trouble hearing themselves.
I just got a little more respect for Scotty. He recognizes and respects the greatness that is Tommy Lasorda. Cool.
The lights are dim. Lauren, James, and Stefano join Ryan at center stage. (That leaves Scotty and Haley on the couch.) Stefano is in the bottom three again. No surprises there. Both Lauren and James are safe. I’m figuring that poor Haley is going to be in the bottom three again.
Haley and Scotty join Ryan. Who gets the last uncomfortable chair? Yep. Haley again. I really don’t get it. Why isn’t Haley getting the votes? Aww….Ryan tells Haley right away that she is safe. So it’s down to Jacob and Stefano.
Before we find out who leaves, we get to hear Katy Perry. Well….after the commercials. What is this movie? Aha!! It’s the Green Lantern! Ryan what’s his name… Reynolds. That’s it. Now for Katy. She’s going to sing “ET.” Hey. That’s not Katy Perry…Who is that? Is that Diddy? Whoa…she looks really weird. Haha. Well, I don’t think this is one of her better songs. Apparently it’s number one right now. I don’t know who the guy is. Hmm…I didn’t like that one.
And now we’re down to it. Who is going home? The lights are dim. Yep. Stefano is leaving. I’m not at all surprised. He really shouldn’t have been here this long. We’ll probably see him in a “Fallout Boy” type band. That’s what he reminds me of. An emo punk singer. So long Stefano. Best of luck to you.
And that’s it for tonight. Next week, six will perform.
